About the FLSun T1

The FlSun T1 is an ultra-high-speed delta printer, with print speeds up to 1,000 mm/s, with a maximum acceleration of 30,000 mm/s². The maximum flow rate for PLA filament is 90 mm³ per second. The Flsun T1 measures 436 x 490 x 836 millimeters and weighs approximately 17 kilograms, with a printing chamber that is 260 millimeters in diameter and 330 millimeters high. The print nozzle is an all-metal hot end that can be heated to up to 300 °C and has a diameter of 0.4 millimeters. The hotend features a customized Volcano clone heat block, securely screwed into the effector to ensure stability during rapid printing. Notably, the adoption of a bi-metal heat break enhances thermal performance, enabling printing up to 300C without concerns about PTFE tube damage. The 7-inch touchscreen accompanying the FLSUN T1 impresses with vibrant colors and a capacitive interface. The Klipper-powered FLSUN Speeder Pad, hosting the printer’s “brains,” enhances the overall user experience. The print bed can be heated to up to 110 °C. A camera is installed for AI error detection and software is currently in development for this feature. The FLSUN T1 also features a compact dual-gear direct-drive extruder setup, complemented by a 4510 radial fan. The fan, with fins resembling the Hemera extruder heatsink, contributes to efficient cooling of the bi-metal heat break. While a smaller heatsink could have reduced the printhead’s weight, the chosen size maintains manageable noise levels. Part cooling relies on a pair of 4010 radial fans, adept at efficiently cooling layers during printing without introducing excessive noise. Three LED strips beneath the effector illuminate prints, controllable via the web interface. The entire effector weighs around 400 grams, suitable for fast printing. The FLSUN T1 houses an MKS Robin Nano 2.0 board, featuring the GigaDevice GD32F103 chip and four removable TMC2226 stepper drivers. The inclusion of a filament runout sensor, also serving as a strain relief for wires, adds convenience. However, the filament path within the sensor lacks adequate constraint, requiring some adjustment for smooth filament passage.

Benefits of the FLSun T1

Auto bed leveling - auto bed leveling will ensure your prints have perfect first layers every time and greatly reduce issues with bed adhesion. When using an auto-leveling system, the probe allows better tolerances for slightly warped print beds by measuring and compensating for any inconsistencies. Without this feature, you'll need to adjust the bed level manually using nuts on each corner of the print bed.

Has touch screen - having a touch screen isn't a deal-maker or breaker, but it is a convenient feature that makes it easier to navigate the interface when you are printing files and configuring 3D printing settings.

Premium components - This printer is known for using the highest quality components, and prioritizes this over providing a lower price point on their printers.

Fully assembled - This 3D printer is shipped completely assembled, and is ready to plug in and start using as soon as you unbox it. You will still need to follow the included calibration procedures, but this will not take a significant amount of time.

Direct drive extruder - Direct drive extruders are mounted right above the hot end, and push the filament directly into it, as opposed to a side mounted bowden extruder setup. We prefer direct drive extruders to bowden since they are less prone to jamming and typically require less maintenance. they also are much easier to use with flexible materials

PEI build surface has good balance of adhesion and part removal - PEI beds are one of the more premium build surface options, and for good reason. They offer great first layer adhesion with no spraysor other treatments, and can be flexed to quickly remove parts. You'll need to clean the bed with a solvent like acetone or IPA every so often to maintain the bed's adhesion.

Generous Build volume - A larger than average build volume means that you will be able to print larger parts without the need to split them into pieces and attach them together, which is especially useful with functional parts. If you have the room for the larger footprint, we definitely recommend going with a larger 3D printer, since you can always print small parts on a larger printer.

Wireless printing - In addition to the standard USB and SD card connections, you can connect wirelessly to this printer to print from your computer or mobile device.

All-metal hot end - An all-metal hot end allows for printing at high temperatures up to 300C, while standard hot ends are capped at 260C before the PTFE material begins to degrade. All-metal hot ends are also less susceptible to jamming, and do not degrade as fast.

Enclosure - An enclosure seals air around the print area. This holds warm, still air around the print area and is essential for printing temperature-sensitive materials like ABS. Enclosures also prevent particulates and gasses from being emitted into the surrounding area, increasing safety. They also greatly reduce printer noise.

Dual gear extruder - A dual gear extruder grips filament from both sides and can exert much more force on the filament before slipping. It helps with all filaments but especially with flexible, slippery TPU.

Brand Summary: FLSun

FLsun is recognized in the 3D printing market for creating affordable printers that are accessible to a wide audience, from beginners to more advanced users. A distinctive aspect of FLsun's lineup is their focus on Delta printers, which are known for their speed and efficiency. Delta printers, characterized by their unique triangular structure, allow for faster print speeds compared to traditional Cartesian printers. This design can enhance print quality for certain types of projects but may also present a steeper learning curve due to their distinct calibration and maintenance requirements. Despite the advantages of speed and user-friendly assembly that FLsun printers offer, users might face challenges with noise during operation and navigating customer support or finding replacement parts. These issues point to areas where FLsun could improve to enhance user satisfaction. Overall, FLsun's commitment to Delta printers showcases their innovative approach in the 3D printing industry, making advanced printing technologies more accessible. However, the balance between affordability, performance, and after-sales support remains a crucial factor for potential users to consider.
