About the Sovol SV01

The SV01 is Sovol's entry-level 3D printer with a generious build area of 280 X 240 X 300mm and more features than the Creality Ender 3 at a lower price. It has a direct drive extrusion system and dual Z-axis stepper motors and lead screws, and it uses a Meanwell power supply and a monochrome LCD. The printer also features a carbon crystal silicon glass build surface, a filament detector, and some Creality parts, including the mainboard. However, the SV01 does not have an automatic bed leveling probe, which can make it challenging for beginners to get good prints. The maximum hot end temperature is 250°C, and the maximum bed temperature is 110°C. Overall, the SV01 is a good quality, budget-friendly printer that appeals to beginners who want to save money while still taking advantage of Creality parts.

Benefits of the Sovol SV01

Direct drive extruder - Direct drive extruders are mounted right above the hot end, and push the filament directly into it, as opposed to a side mounted bowden extruder setup. We prefer direct drive extruders to bowden since they are less prone to jamming and typically require less maintenance. they also are much easier to use with flexible materials

Disadvantages to consider

Manual bed levelling - This printer requires you to to adjust the bed level manually using nuts on each corner of the print bed. Once you have calibrated the bed leveling, you may need to adjust the levelling knobs periodically to ensure good first layer adhesion to the print bed.

Budget components - In order to keep costs down, this 3D printer uses more plastic pieces and other lower quality components

Brand Summary: Sovol

Sovol is a 3D printer brand known for producing innovative printers with more features than their competitors at a lower price. Their printers are beginner-friendly and have good build quality, but their entry-level printer, the SV01, lacks a bed leveling probe. While Sovol's community is still establishing itself, the company's support is well-regarded, and they have over 80,000 users. Sovol has experimented with complex dual extrusion features, which led to clogging problems and quality issues in some of their previous models. However, their current printers, such as the SV06 Plus, offer impressive features like 25-point auto bed leveling and a 500W bed heater. Sovol's varied printers appeal to different users, from new users to advanced users.
